This Policy describes how we treat personal information on the websites and apps where it is located. By using our websites, apps, or services, you acknowledge that your personal information will be collected, used, disclosed, and otherwise processed as described in this Privacy Policy. Where applicable law requires your consent for specific processing activities, we will obtain that consent through a separate mechanism. This includes Simplfii’s auto, home and life insurance services as well as all services marketed and provided by Simplfii.com. It also applies to our mobile sites and apps.
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, the following terms have the meanings set forth below:
‘Personal Information’ means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or household, as defined under applicable state privacy laws including the CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, and other state privacy statutes.
‘Sensitive Personal Information’ means personal information that includes: government-issued identification numbers (e.g., Social Security number, driver’s license number); financial account information; precise geolocation data; racial or ethnic origin; biometric information; health or medical information; or contents of mail, email, or text messages (where the business is not the intended recipient), as defined under applicable state privacy laws. Simplfii does not collect or process Sensitive Personal Information as defined under these laws.
‘Sale’ means the disclosure of personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration, as defined under the CCPA/CPRA and other applicable state privacy laws.
‘Sharing’ means the disclosure of personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes, as defined under the CPRA.
‘Targeted Advertising’ means displaying advertisements to a consumer where the advertisement is selected based on personal information obtained from the consumer’s activities over time and across nonaffiliated websites or online applications, as defined under the VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, TDPSA, and other applicable state privacy laws. Targeted advertising does not include advertisements based on activities within a controller’s own websites or online applications, or advertisements based on the context of a consumer’s current search query or visit.
‘Profiling’ means any form of automated processing of personal information to evaluate, analyze, or predict personal aspects concerning an identified or identifiable individual’s economic situation, health, personal preferences, interests, reliability, behavior, location, or movements.
‘De-identified Data’ means data that cannot reasonably be used to infer information about, or otherwise be linked to, an identified or identifiable individual, or a device linked to such individual, provided that the controller takes reasonable measures to ensure the data cannot be associated with an individual, publicly commits to maintaining and using the data only in de-identified form, and contractually obligates recipients to comply with these requirements.
‘Controller’ or ‘Business’ means Simplfii, which determines the purposes and means of processing personal information.
We collect contact information. For example, we might collect your name and street address if you register on our site or in our app. We might also collect your phone number or email address. If you choose to invite friends to download our app, we will collect their email address.
We collect information you submit or post. We collect the information you post in a public space on our site. We also collect information when you contact us.
We collect demographic information. We may collect information like your gender, age, date of birth and marital status. We may also collect your zip code. We might collect this when you contact us or enter a promotion.
Simplfii does not collect Sensitive Personal Information (as defined under the CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, TDPSA, and other applicable state privacy laws). If our data collection practices change in the future to include any categories of Sensitive Personal Information, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain any consent required by applicable law before such collection begins.
We collect usage and device/location information. If you use our website, we may collect information about the browser you’re using. We might look at what site you came from, or what sites you visit when you leave us. On our app, we may collect information about your location, including saved locations.
We collect information directly from you. For example, we collect information from you if you use our website, request insurance information or register for our app. We also collect information if you contact us. You may have the option to share a picture of your driver’s license barcode which we will use to collect information about you from third-party providers. See the section below entitled, “We may share information with third parties” for more information.
We collect information from you passively. We use tracking tools like browser cookies and web beacons. We do this on our websites and in emails that we send to you. We collect information about users over time when you use this website. We may have third parties collect personal information this way.
We get information about you from third parties. For example, our business partners may give us information about you, including contact, demographic and other personal information. These may include insurance providers, credit reporting agencies and other data companies. Social media platforms may also give us information about you.
We combine information. For example, we may combine information we get from a third party with information we already have. We may also combine information collected from you on our various platforms. We may also obtain information about you based on other websites you have visited.
We use information to respond to your requests or questions. For example, we and our business partners use your information to select and provide you with information about insurance products you may be interested in. We may also use your information to respond to your customer feedback. We may use your information to notify you if you win a contest or sweepstakes.
We use information to improve our products and services. We may use your information to make our website and products better. We might use your information to customize your experience with us.
We use information for security purposes. We may use your information to protect our company and our customers. We also use information to protect our websites and apps.
We use information for marketing purposes. For example, we might provide you with information, special offers, and advertisements about products. This information may be from or on behalf of insurance providers or other third parties. We might tell you about new features or updates. We might also use your information to serve you ads about products and offers. By submitting your email address and/or phone number to us, you authorize us to use that email address and phone that we feel may be of interest to you. We may also allow our partners to provide you with information about new products and special offers, including offers for insurance products and services.
We use information to communicate with you. For example, we will communicate with you about your account or our relationship. We may contact you about your feedback. We might also contact you about this Policy or our website Terms.
We may also use push notifications through your browser and on our mobile apps. We will send you push notifications about insurance-related offers and services. We may also send you push notifications for other reasons like friend requests, prompts to view your trips, or product updates.
We use information as otherwise permitted by law or as we may notify you.
We will share information with third parties who perform services on our behalf. These service providers include but are not limited to: email and communication providers; data analytics and advertising technology providers; cloud hosting and IT infrastructure providers; payment processors; customer support platforms; and fraud prevention and security service providers. We require these service providers to use your personal information only for the purposes of performing services on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.
We will share information with our business partners and other third parties, including: insurance carriers and underwriters (to provide insurance quotes and offers); insurance agents and brokers; credit reporting agencies (to verify your information and determine eligibility); marketing and advertising partners (to provide you with information about products and services); and data brokers and lead aggregators. These partners may send you information about products and services by telephone, text, fax, mail or email. If you use our website or app we will share your information, including name, address, email, telephone number, and date of birth, which you provided to us or that we obtained from third-party sources, with insurance companies or other third parties that may provide it to insurance companies. Insurance companies that receive your information may use it to assist in providing you offers for insurance. You further acknowledge and agree that each insurance company that receives your quote request from this website or from our affiliates may confirm your information through the use of a consumer reporting agency, which may include among other things, your driving record and/or credit score to determine eligibility and accurate rates.
information that is discoverable in connection with accident investigations, litigation or both. We may share it if a government agency or investigatory body requests. We might share information when we are investigating potential fraud.
We may share information with any successor to all or part of our business. For example, if part of our business was sold, we may give our customer list as part of that transaction.
Some of your information will be viewable by other users. If you use the app, your username, profile picture, driving score and rank, and city or town of residence will be publicly viewable by others. You may also elect to share your specific driving habits and trips with your friends; however, we will not share this information without your permission.
You can opt out of receiving our marketing emails. To stop receiving our promotional emails, email customer support at Contact Us or follow the instructions in any promotional message you get from us. Even if you opt out of getting marketing messages, we will still send you transactional messages. These include responses to your questions. If you opt-out of receiving marketing communications from our business partners with whom we have shared your information, you will still receive marketing communications from us and any other business partners with whom your information was shared.

We recognize and honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals and other universal opt-out mechanisms as required by applicable law. When we detect a GPC signal or similar opt-out preference signal from your browser, we will treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information and targeted advertising, as required under the CPRA, CPA, CTDPA, TDPSA, and other applicable state privacy laws. You can control tools on your mobile devices. For example, you can turn off the GPS locator or push notifications on your phone through your phone’s settings.
Consumers residing in California have certain rights with respect to their personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (‘CCPA/CPRA’) (California Civil Code Section 1798.100 et seq.) and the ‘Shine the Light’ Law (California Civil Code Section 1798.83). Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising: California and other state privacy laws require that we provide transparency about personal information we "sell” or “share.” Under the CCPA/CPRA, a “sale” means the disclosure of personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration, and “sharing” means the disclosure of personal information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising. Under other state privacy laws (including the VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, and TDPSA), “targeted advertising” means displaying advertisements selected based on personal information obtained from your activities over time and across nonaffiliated websites or applications. In the preceding 12 months, we have "sold" the following categories of personal information: identifiers, categories of personal information, professional or employment-related information, education information, and inferences drawn from any of the information identified. California consumers above the age of 16 have the right to opt out of these sales at any time. We do not knowingly sell personal information about consumers under the age of 16. Your Consumer Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to (1) request more information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, sold, and disclosed for a business purpose in the last 12 months (Right to Know), (2) request deletion of your personal information (Right to Delete), (3) request correction of inaccurate personal information (Right to Correct), (4) opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (Right to Opt-Out), and (5) be free from discrimination or retaliation for exercising your rights under the CCPA/CPRA. Right to Appeal. If we decline to take action on your privacy rights request, in whole or in part, we will inform you of the reasons for our decision. Residents of states with applicable privacy laws (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon, and Montana) have the right to appeal our decision. If you reside in a state with an applicable consumer privacy law — including but not limited to Virginia (Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, ‘VCDPA’), Colorado (Colorado Privacy Act, ‘CPA’), Connecticut (Connecticut Data Privacy Act, ‘CTDPA’), Utah (Utah Consumer Privacy Act, ‘UCPA’), Texas (Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, ‘TDPSA’), Oregon (Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, ‘OCPA’), Montana (Montana Consumer Data Privacy Act, ‘MCDPA’), Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Maryland, Minnesota, and other states with enacted privacy legislation — you may have the following rights:
Right to Know/Access. You have the right to confirm whether we are processing your personal information and to access that information.
Right to Correct. You have the right to request correction of inaccurate personal information.
Right to Delete. You have the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
Right to Data Portability. You have the right to obtain a copy of your personal information in a portable and, to the extent technically feasible, readily usable format.

Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.

We will respond to your appeal within the timeframe required by applicable law. If your appeal is denied, you may have the right to contact your state’s attorney general.
How to Exercise Your Rights. To exercise any of the rights described above, please submit a request by emailing us at Contact Us or by calling us at [toll-free number]. We will verify your identity before processing your request by confirming at least two pieces of personal information you provided to us. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf (see ‘Authorized Agents’ below).
Authorized Agents. You may designate an authorized agent to exercise your privacy rights on your behalf. To do so, the authorized agent must provide: (a) a power of attorney executed under applicable state law; or (b) a written authorization signed by you, along with proof of the agent’s identity. We retain your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, as described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by applicable law. The criteria we use to determine retention periods include:
When personal information is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and no legal obligation requires further retention, we will securely delete or de-identify it.
When we de-identify personal information, we implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to prevent re-identification, we do not attempt to re-identify the information, and we contractually require any recipients to maintain the information in de-identified form and refrain from any attempt to re-identify it, in accordance with applicable state privacy law requirements.

Information we maintain may be stored within the United States. If you live outside of the United States, you understand and agree that you are transferring your information to the United States. Our platforms are subject to U.S. laws, which may not afford the same level of protection as those in your country.
